Lesson Programs

Agapé is a unique therapeutic horseback-riding program. This innovative program is designed to improve the quality of life with the integration of academic, social, behavioral, and physical skills, utilizing the horse as the movement catalyst. Learning these skills enables individuals to develop to their God given potential.

School-Based Lessons: This service is geared for students with special needs from Central Indiana. Classes include three learning stations: stable, riding, and classroom. Classes are specially designed to meet the IEP goals, Indiana Academic Standards and Developmental Assets.

Family-Based Lessons: This lesson is for individuals with special needs from families and group homes. Goals are set for the session through a collaborative effort of the instructor, rider, and parent/guardian. Private and group lessons are available.

Agapé Summer Adventure: Offered to individuals with special needs, this summer experience is everyday for a week. A planned three-hour program each day allows a more in depth experience with the horses, riding, and a related imaginative craft.

Carriage Driving: For those individuals who may not be appropriate for horseback riding, but would like to develop a complimentary skill carriage driving is available. A specially made carriage with an automatic lift makes it possible for a person in a wheelchair to enter the carriage and drive a horse with the aid of an instructor.

Equine Experiential Education: This service is offered for students who learn best through a multi-sensory approach. It will engage students using hands-on activities with both the miniature horses and large horses re-enforce skills in math, reading, writing, and speaking by enriching their existing curriculum.
