Volunteers play a vital role in the success of Agapé. There are many ways to get involved and we hope you find the right fit for you. You’ll find a description of opportunities below. You can download our volunteer application by clicking the button out to the right or call 317.773.7433 ext. 18.
Special Events: Agapé holds fundraising events throughout the year. Special events include The Pay for the Horse Golf Classic and Breakfast for the Barn.
Classroom Assistants: Our students receive therapy on horseback and in the classroom. Volunteers are needed throughout the week to assist our students with projects relating to the curriculum taught in the arena.
Property Volunteers: Volunteers can help with the upkeep of our facility. Property clean-ups are available weekly.
Mini Visitation Program: The Miniature Horse Program touches the lives of special needs, at-risk youth, and adults who are unable to visit the Agapé facility. Staff members and volunteers bring the miniature horses to them in their classroom, hospitals, or nursing homes.
Special Olympics: Several of our riders are preparing for the Equestrian segment of the Special Olympics. Volunteers are needed to assist these riders in their weekly classes and also at the event held once a year.
Four-Legged Friends: After completing 20 hours of volunteering, the volunteer can commit to spending time with their four-legged grooming and loving them. After completing the Horse Leader session and 50 hours of volunteer time, volunteers are able to groom, walk, and let graze. After volunteers have completed the Massage class they are able to begin massaging your four-legged friend.
Team Volunteering: This program was designed especially for 14 and 15 year old children to partner them with a parent or guardian. Volunteers are required to attend a three-hour training session and are encouraged to participate in quarterly education classes.
